Here's a great exercise from The Successful Stroke Survivor book: Stick Steering.
You are going to mimic the action of turning a large steering wheel with both hands. The aim is to keep the bad hand on the stick whilst the wrist is put under increasing pressure as it moves past the vertical. Most people find that this is one of the most natural things they find themselves doing with these sticks. It is a really great exercise, for it threatens to pull the fingers away from the stick one by one. You have to exert a lot of control. The exercise is then taken further, as the stick is pulled across the body both w#strokerecoveryo#StrokeRehabilitationa#ARNIstrokerehabr#neuroplasticityi#strokeclenchedhandd#arnistroket#neurorehabrehab

Life after stroke should be full of curiosity. If someone has told you that you can’t do something, or that you’ll never recover to a certain degree, challenge them.
Every stroke is different, and every recovery will be different. There are no limits since the limits are unknown!

Today is World Stroke Day! 🌍 Held annually on October 29, the day is dedicated to raising global awareness about the serious nature and high rates of stroke, emphasising prevention, treatment and support for survivors.
The event was established by the World Stroke Organisation (WSO) in 2006, and the date remains the same every year.❤️
Let's use the day to share information, support all survivors and honour the incredible healthcare professionals, like ARNI Stroke Rehab UK trainers who make a difference every single day. Together, we can fight stroke and improve lives 💪
